19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
