Vehicles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official stated the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
